CAS-Nepal has chosen the beautiful places for the program where volunteers can get new experience with positive contribution in return. Placements are available in the village area of the following locations. Volunteers stay with local families in home having Nepali food and exchanging cultures.

Kathmandu Valley |
|
|
The Kathmandu valley is made up of 3 main cities: Kathmandu, Patan and Bhaktapur. It is important for its historical places and ancient art galleries. These cities are famous for the historical events and sculpture.
Kathmandu, the capital city of Nepal is one of the richest cities in cultural heritage with amazing history. It is said that the city was built on 724 A.D. Most of the central parts are well developed where essential facilities are available and those of some peripheral parts are still rural. Volunteers will be working in rural parts as well as in urban parts. In rural part of Kathmandu Valley, programs will be performed as per community needs and in urban places volunteers will be involving in teaching, hospital, street child cares, orphanage, geriatric homes, research, cultural orientation and language program.

Volunteers are sent to a number of small, rural mountainous areas in Kathmandu valley such as Godawari, Kritipur, Lubhu. All of the villages are located within one hour to one and half hour bus ride from the Kathmandu city. Villages are well-developed infrastructure with water readily available and reliable roads. Most of the villages will have a few shops where you can purchase bottle water, biscuits, and stationeries. Local phone call can usually be made and international phone calls are also accepted but internet access is usually not available.

Pokhara |
|
A popular tourist destination due to its proximity to the Annapurna region, Pokhara, is situated approximately 200 k.m.west to Kathmandu and can be reached in 6 hours by bus ride and 25 minutes by aero plane. Pokhara is smaller than Kathmandu valley and is only 2952 m above sea level at the foot of Annapurna Range. Pokhara itself lies on the banks of Phewa Lake, a huge beautiful lake on which it is possible to go boating and engage in other water activities. Other beautiful lakes Begnas and Rupa decorate the city.

There are many marginal areas which are away from city and underdeveloped where electricity, transportations, health services and other facilities are not completely available but the community people are very cooperative and helpful. Program will be performed in both urban and rural areas where volunteer will be involving in different programs such as Community awareness, teaching, female empowerment, health care, environmental sanitation, agriculture, constructions, cultural exchange, community guest, and primary health care education program. |

Chitwan |

|
A famous tourist place of Nepal approximately 5 hours bus drive from Kathmandu valley or 20 minutes by air flight. Chitwan is adjoining to the Indian border and situated in the middle of the Terai, flat and fertile area, a multi cultural region. People are migrated to the area from all over Nepal. "Royal Chitwan National Park" is important for Jungle walk, Elephant ride, Bird view, Rhinocerous, Tiger etc. Volunteers can spend their holiday and free time visiting the Royal Chitwan National Park, swimming canoeing and cycling around the many indigenous Tharu Village near by. Narayangarh is the region's main city and offers shopping, internet and telephone facilities. Most of the village placements in Chitwan are less than an hour bus ride from the main market-Narayangarh.. |

Nawalparasi |

A district related to the Chitwan district, west from the Narayangarh city which is adjoining to the Narayani River, equally important for its beauty. It takes nearly 5 hours bus drive from Kathmandu valley. It is a fertile, farming area with many small pretty villages surrounded by rice, wheat, and cornfield. . Programs will be tailored in rural parts according to the community demand such as community health camps, teaching environmental conservation and sanitation, working in orphanage, hospitals/ health post cultural exchange, construction, community awareness and agriculture aided projects etc.

Lumbini
|

Lumbini, the birthplace of the light of Asia, Gautam Buddha (founder of Buddhism) who was born in 623 B.C., is the pilgrimage destination of the world's millions of people faithful to all schools of Buddhism.This site,identified by Indian Emperor Ashoka's commemorative pillar is listed as a World Heritage Site by UNESCO. The main attraction at Lumbini remains the Sacred Garden spread over 8 Sq km and possesses all the treasures of the historic area. The Mayadevi is the main temple.There are other places of interest too nearby. It takes about 8 hour bus or car drive from Kathmandu to reach this place. |

The people of this area are very cooperative and supportive. Volunteers will have to adjust in one of the programs assigned by the organization. Programs may differ according to the need of communities.
