Phase-One

This phase of training is conducted for three days in a hotel either in Kathmandu or in Chitwan. During these days, volunteers will be provided 5 hours of training per day. Program days can be changed according to duration of volunteering work.

The training includes:

- Basic Nepali Language classes: 2 hours.

- Nepali cultural orientation/general cultural exchange: 1 hour.

- Language and skill activities: 1 hour.

- Sight seeing: 1 and 1/2 hour.

You will be sharing the training with other volunteers while staying at hotel. You can do more sight seeing and shopping in the free time. CAS-Nepal provides your accommodation in hotel at Thamel or in Chitwan.

Phase Two

This Phase of training is conducted for six days. This week is an orientation into the Nepali village life to prepare volunteers ready for the period of their village placement. The village will be around the kathmandu valley or in the placement areas. Volunteers will move to local village where they continue their Nepali classes. Volunteers will live with local families, eating traditional food, observing the culture and tradition of Nepali villages and getting general feelings of the village life style. During this time volunteers will practice teaching in the school and prepare for their community placement. We organize cultural programs, canoe ride, jungle safari, and Tharu and ethnic village visits in this phase.
