About Nepal  
 

Nepal is a country of astonishing and extreme beauty. It is more than just the home of the highest peak in the world and can brag of breath taking trekking trails, raging Himalayan Rivers and forested plains with a wide variety of flora and fauna. Visitors to this Himalayan Kingdom have always been fascinated by its natural beauty and striking extremes in topography within a very limited geographical area. It lies between two big countries, India and China .The elevation of Nepal starts at 60 m above sea level and ends with Mt.Everest at 8848m, the highest point on the earth.
Nepal ranks among the world's poorest countries even if it is rich in natural resources. Based on national GNP criteria, an estimated 31% of the population is below the poverty line.

Trade (2005/2006): Exports--$834 million: carpets, pashmina, garments. Major markets-- Germany and the U.S. Imports--$2.2 billion: manufactured goods. Major supplier-- India.
Central government budget (FY 2006/2007): $1.9 billion; military allocation $139 million.
